Beaudreau Campaign Holds Kickoff Event

Over 40 Residents Come to Hear Candidate for
Gwinnett County Commission Third District Seat

Over forty area residents, including homeowners and business leaders, attended a two hour kickoff rally in support of Gwinnett County Commission candidate Mike Beaudreau on Saturday, January 31. Following the campaign rally, many of the supporters went door-to-door for Mike until dark.

"I was proud to see so many people come out to help get my campaign started," Beaudreau commented. "Because I made a decision not to accept campaign contributions from wealthy developers, I am relying on the support of people in the community who are concerned about the quality of life in Gwinnett County." As of late January, over 50 people have contributed to the candidate's campaign.

As he goes door-to-door to meet area residents, Mike finds a receptive audience for his message. When he asks third district homeowners what their biggest concerns are with the way the county is run, issues including school overcrowding, road congestion, and high density residential development invariably come up.

If elected, Mike will focus on issues that face the communities of Centerville, Dacula, Grayson, Lawrenceville, Lilburn, Loganville, and Snellville. One of his goals is to reduce the number of trailers in the county's schools by restoring a balance between growth and neighborhood preservation. He hopes to promote more community friendly growth by enforcing the county's Land Use Plan in rezoning cases.

"I oppose development that will not generate enough tax revenue to justify the long-term impact on surrounding home values or citizen's quality of life," the candidate commented. "The Land Use Plan, prepared by the county's professional staff and approved by the Commission, provides a roadmap that includes a reasonable rate of growth that does not over burden the community's transportation and facilities infrastructure."

In addition to growth issues, Mike hopes to make the commission more accessible to the county's citizens, and to reduce the tax rate paid by residents.
